Why do we still say “bless you” when someone sneezes?

This is a prompt from

Overall I think we still say bless you, because we’ve been saying it for thousands of years according to wikipedia and old habits die hard.  But while people may have started back in the day to ward off evil spirits or what not.  I personally say it today, because I really do want to offer a blessing to people and what a better more convienient way than when they sneeze.  Everyone sneezes, some times of the year more so than others, but it’s a nice way to bless friends, family or strangers.  In some cases it reminds me to say a prayer for that person, a silent little prayer, blessing or thanks.

It’s also polite and brings us closer as human beings to have that connection, it’s something we all do.
